U7s v Queensbury - 02/11/08

                                                  Burley Trojans Juniors U7s ‘A’ 0 Queensbury Cougars U7s 4

Trojans recent recovery came to a halt against high flying Queensbury on The Rec. In fairness it was not the mauling from the Cougars that the scoreline might suggest and Trojans gave as good as they got in the opening exchanges. Matthew Revis had a couple of chances, both of which forced saves from the visiting keeper. At the other end the Trojans defence, well marshalled as ever by Alex Bentley, held firm and keeper Callum Worts dealt confidently with everything that came his way. The opening goal came with half time approaching when a well worked move ended with a good finish into the corner of the net. Trojans, with Finlay Tunney battling hard in midfield, had their hands full as the visitors stepped up a gear in the second half and began to exert some real pressure on the Trojans goal. Daniel Twigg, who had taken over in goal, was certainly the busier of the two keepers and made a number of good saves but had no chance with the second goal midway through the half. Two more goals in the last five minutes put the result firmly beyond doubt but Trojans kept on battling and Revis shot just wide with the last kick of the game. Tunney deservedly picked up the man of the match award for his tough tackling performance for Trojans.
